Winter Holiday Shootout Series

Three-stage weekend event, the Vail Lake Racers and Chasers’ third and final race in Temecula, CA Winter Holiday Shootout Series. The Super D was held on Saturday afternoon, followed by the Night Short Track under the lights. The last stage was a Sunday Cross-Country.

STAGE 1 SUPER D The Super D practice shuttles started at noon Saturday to kick off the weekend. The course received rave reviews! Eric Carter raced, making the event even more spectacular. It was Temecula’s largest Super D turnout and even the Under-18 classes were stacked. It was great to see that the future of children was being represented so well. The race was down to the wire between four riders; Eric Carter, Eventual winner, just managed to beat Brian Crooks at line. STAGE 2 SHORT TRACKING

The Night Short Track was amazing! The course was lit up with light towers that we rented. Ay-Up Lights provided demos for racers interested in extreme illumination. Chuck Jenkins taught everyone how to navigate those berms, high speed corners and other obstacles like a pro. He was already half a lap ahead at the end of race. Chuck completed 15 laps. The bonfire was lit and the music was blastin’. All of those who came out to see the racers had as much fun as they did. STAGE 3 CROSS COUNTRY
Sunday morning’s Stage 3 Cross-Country was a great success. We were greeted by beautiful weather and a large crowd. All Experts and Professionals must complete an Elite Loop to add distance and difficulty to their race. Chuck Jenkins, the eventual race winner, was with me on the first circuit. After the recent rains, the course conditions were perfect. Soon after, I saw a wild herd cows. I said « chow to Chuck » and began to peel off the cows. Lucky for me, I was packing heat. I needed more leather to make number plates. POST RACE
We held a raffle after the Race and gave away a complete Cannondale, an Intense discount, and an Ellsworth frame discount. Nearly everyone won something from the raffle or the awards. As we do for each event, we again gave out handmade leather trophies. The Winter Holiday Shootout Series Champion was awarded the special Bicycle Wheel Cowbell Award.
