My name is Madeleine Céré. I come from Québec and we are growing Irish blueberries here in New Brunswick, in Memramcook. I’m growing blueberries since probably 15 years now because I had a farm when I was living in Québec. I start a blueberry farm in 92 and I was, we had some orchards too. When I move here in New Brunswick, I start this farm with my husband Jean-Louis and we found nobody here around that grow Irish blueberries, so we decided (noise). C’est sûr qu’éventuellement… I learned a little bit by myself and I learned to, a lot of information on Internet and with other producers, just learning by doing something you learn so much too at the same time. On est pas encore à l’âge de la retraite… Blueberries in New Brunswick are different from Québec, because the weather I should say is different, here in the Maritimes it’s more humid, there’s more, more water in the air, so it’s a little bit different. The crop is ready two weeks older than in Québec but the rest is very similar, we grow almost the same variety and the picking is the same and the way to grow them is the same too. Yes those noises are a recording tape that we use for scare the birds. The birds like the little fruit like they like the raspberry, they like strawberries, and they like blueberries too and before we had this recording. We had a lot of fruit they were not good for the sale because they just pick and take a little part of the berries so now with this tape they are afraid because they are different sounds of different birds in the trail, so bird that they’re afraid that they can, anyway the different sound like bird of prey, yes yes, so it works so much. A recipe, they can use the Irish blueberry it’s very similar the wild blueberries, you can use it for make pie, for make muffins, for make square, any recipe that you can use blueberry on it you can use it, put on your cereal, put in your yogurt, you can freeze them and just use it in the winter to make a jam. It’s very similar to the other one, it’s a very popular fruit because it’s very healthy they made a lot of studies that they are very very good fruit for the health.
